Kitten Purchase
Contract

A non-refundable deposit of $500 USD is required to secure a place on the waitlist. This deposit is applied in full toward the total purchase price of the kitten.

The remaining balance is due in full on the scheduled pickup day or transport date. Failure to remit the balance by this deadline may result in forfeiture of the deposit and the kitten being offered to the next family on the waitlist.

Accepted payment methods: cash (in person), Zelle, Venmo, or bank transfer. Personal checks are not accepted. All payments must clear before the kitten is released.

The deposit is non-refundable except in the event that Breeder is unable to produce a suitable kitten within 18 months of the deposit date, in which case the deposit will be refunded in full.

Breeder guarantees that the kitten has been examined by a licensed veterinarian and found to be in good health at the time of sale. A written veterinary health certificate will accompany the kitten.

Breeder provides a one-year genetic health guarantee covering the following hereditary conditions: hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), and polycystic kidney disease (PKD).

If the kitten is diagnosed with a covered condition by a board-certified veterinary specialist within one year of the sale date, Breeder will, at Buyer's election, provide either a replacement kitten of comparable value from a future litter or a partial refund of 50% of the purchase price. Buyer retains the affected kitten.

This guarantee is void if: (a) the kitten has not received appropriate veterinary care including annual wellness exams; (b) the kitten has been bred; (c) the kitten has been exposed to known environmental toxins or infectious disease through negligence; or (d) Buyer cannot provide veterinary documentation of the diagnosis.

The health guarantee does not cover illness, injury, or conditions arising after the kitten leaves Breeder's care that are not of genetic origin, including but not limited to: upper respiratory infections, parasites, accidents, or conditions resulting from diet or environment.

Buyer agrees to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup or delivery. If the kitten is found to have a pre-existing condition not disclosed by Breeder, Buyer must notify Breeder in writing within 5 business days. Failure to do so constitutes acceptance of the kitten's health status.

All kittens sold by Six Springs Timbercoons on a pet contract are sold with limited TICA registration and must be spayed or neutered by 12 months of age, unless a veterinarian advises otherwise in writing for documented medical reasons.

Buyer agrees to provide Breeder with written proof of spay/neuter (veterinary invoice or certificate) within 30 days of the procedure. Proof may be submitted by email to the address provided at time of sale.

Breeding of a kitten sold on a pet contract is strictly prohibited. Any Buyer found to have bred a pet-contract kitten will be required to remit the full breeding-rights price differential ($1,500 USD) and will be permanently barred from future purchases from Six Springs Timbercoons.

Kittens sold with full TICA registration and breeding rights are subject to a separate breeding contract.

Buyer agrees to provide the kitten with appropriate veterinary care, including annual wellness examinations, core vaccinations as recommended by a licensed veterinarian, and prompt treatment of illness or injury.

Buyer agrees to keep the kitten as an indoor-only cat or to provide a fully enclosed outdoor space (catio). Six Springs Timbercoons will not sell to buyers who intend to allow unsupervised outdoor access.

Buyer agrees to feed the kitten a high-quality diet appropriate for the cat's life stage. Breeder will provide feeding recommendations at time of sale.

Buyer agrees to provide appropriate enrichment, including scratching surfaces, climbing structures, and interactive play. Maine Coons are an active, intelligent breed and require mental stimulation.

Buyer agrees to notify Breeder promptly of any significant health diagnosis, change in living situation, or circumstance that may affect the kitten's welfare.

Six Springs Timbercoons will always accept the return of a kitten or cat sold by this cattery, for any reason, at any age. We will never allow a Six Springs cat to enter a shelter or rescue.

If Buyer is unable to keep the kitten or cat for any reason, Buyer must contact Breeder before rehoming, surrendering to a shelter, or transferring ownership to any third party.

Returned cats will be accepted at no charge to Buyer. Purchase price is non-refundable upon voluntary return unless otherwise agreed in writing by Breeder.

If Buyer rehomes the cat without notifying Breeder, Buyer remains responsible for ensuring the new owner receives a copy of this contract and agrees to its terms. Buyer must provide Breeder with the new owner's contact information within 30 days.

Breeder reserves the right to reclaim any cat found to be living in conditions that constitute neglect or abuse, as determined by a licensed veterinarian or animal welfare authority, without refund of purchase price.

This contract shall be governed by the laws of the State of Ohio. Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be resolved in the courts of the county in which Breeder resides.

If any provision of this contract is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Breeder reserves the right to update this contract for future sales. The version in effect at the time of deposit governs each individual sale.

This contract represents the entire agreement between Breeder and Buyer. No verbal representations or prior written communications supersede the terms herein.
